Great little spot off the touristy beaten path. Nice quiet spot to dine minus the crowds.

Came for dinner to this Thai restaurant in North Beach near Fisherman's Wharf that's classy yet casual. It has a pretty authentic menu. New Thai Elephant is one of the best restaurants around this area period. Good idea for those tired of fish. The prices aren't that bad for the portions and quality. A lot of Thai and other Asian restaurants are around the city. In this area though most people think of seafood. This is a place to get away from that. Just walk a bit from the piers to get here. There's all the classic favorites on the menu. It's about $13 for an entree. To be honest that's not bad for what you get. We got some of the noodle items, of which there are many of these. I got the Pad Kee Mao. This is stir fried flat rice noodles with basil, bell peppers, green beans, and Thai chili, and a choice of protein. Good place for Thai that's spicy and authentic. It's one of those restaurants that closes between lunch and dinner for a couple hours. The entrees come with protein choices, including tofu for vegans and vegetarians.

Several weeks ago, my friend and I ordered Seafood Noodle Soup for lunch, and we loved it so much we returned for dinner the following weeknight. The restaurant was almost full when we arrived at 6 pm, but we were seated immediately. We ordered pumpkin curry with pork and Pad Thai noodles to share. Our dinner arrived fairly quickly, and the service was excellent. Authentic and flavorful, we thoroughly enjoyed both dishes. We now consider this to be our favorite Thai restaurant in the area.
